Black and Blue Steak Salad

COOK: 15 minutes
Crisp romaine lettuce tossed in balsamic dressing topped with pan-seared steak, crumbly blue cheese, bacon and tomatoes. Tons of flavor in a super simple meal.


2 strip steaks, extra fat trimmed
Sea salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 hearts of romaine lettuce, torn into bite size pieces
1/2 yellow bell pepper, sliced
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup toasted walnuts
1 (28 ounce) can Redpack® Diced Tomatoes, or 2 (14.5 ounce) cans Redpack® Diced Tomatoes in Juice, rinsed and drained
Lite balsamic dressing
1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed and roasted or grilled
3 slices bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled
3/4 cup bleu (blue) cheese crumbles


  • Season steak with salt and black pepper. Cook to desired doneness in your oven broiler or grill. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  • Prepare salad by tossing together, hearts of romaine, bell peppers, onion, nuts and diced tomatoes. Toss lightly with a small amount of balsamic dressing, to fit your tastes. Plate the salad and top with roasted asparagus.
  • Cut steak against the grain in thin strips and lay on top of each salad. Sprinkle with bacon and blue cheese.
