  • I recently purchased Red Gold whole tomatoes and they were the best quality of canned tomatoes that I can remember purchasing. Thank you for such a great product.
  • The only canned tomatoes that I buy. They are better than any other brand, including San Marzano tomatoes. The tomatoes are firm and whole, not broken up into pieces floating around in the juice like others.

  • I had never used your products until the other day and decided to try them to make a pot of chili. We were very pleased to know we were helping to support the Midwest farming community. We'll be buying more...It's a THUMBS UP!!!!!

Pizza Stromboli

  • Pizza Stromboli
PREP: 20 minutes
COOK: 1 hour
Handheld pizza for busy families on the go! Yummy pizza ingredients all wrapped in pre-made pizza or crescent dough. You decide what ‘toppings’ to add; veggies, sausage, pepperoni whatever you like! If you don’t like extra spice, feel free to leave out the red pepper for a milder sauce.

Spicy Pizza Sauce
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
1/2 cup dry white wine, or vegetable broth
1 (28 ounce) can Redpack® Diced Tomatoes Basil, Garlic & Oregano, or 2 (14.5 ounce) cans Redpack® Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic & Oregano
4 tablespoons Redpack® Tomato Paste
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
Pizza Stromboli
1 (10 ounce) package refrigerator pizza crust, crescent roll sheet or homemade pizza crust
1 (8 ounce) package shredded pizza cheese
1 cup Spicy Pizza Sauce
1 cup assorted vegetables (green pepper, onion, mushrooms and spinach leaves), chopped

Spicy Pizza Sauce
  • Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and sauté until it is soft, about 4 minutes. Add the garlic and wine; cook for an additional minute.
  • Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, pepper flakes, salt and black pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until thickened. Stir in the vinegar; cool.
  • Freeze leftover pizza sauce for a future Pizza Stromboli or regular pizza.
Pizza Stromboli
  • Preheat oven to 375o F.
  • Remove crescent roll sheet from tube and place on sheet of parchment paper. Roll dough into a 10” X 14” rectangle. Place on baking sheet.
  • Spread ½ of cheese down the center third of the dough. Top with 1 cup Spicy Pizza Sauce and 1 cup of chopped vegetables. Top with remaining cheese.
  • Cut 1” crosswise strips down the sides of the rectangle. Starting from one end, bring one of the dough strips across the filling diagonally. Repeat on the other side, crisscrossing the dough strips.  Continue down the rest of the braid, alternating strips to form the loaf. Brush with egg wash (one egg beaten with a pinch of salt). Sprinkle with dehydrated onions or poppy seed. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Option: Pepperoni or crumbled cooked sausage can also be added when placing the vegetables.
